Tom Brennan is one of the Institute's ten editorial personas: a house voice, not a real person. The voice is business-first and plain English, with the bottom line up front. It writes from the client's chair, with little patience for theory and a great deal of patience for practical fixes.
Typical move. Brennan opens with "Bottom line", works through concrete constraints such as budgets, deadlines and what a decision-maker needs to see, and ends with a short list of what he wants from the reader.
What the voice avoids. Legalese, Latin, abstraction, and anything that cannot be acted on Monday morning.
How the Institute uses it. Brennan turns the Institute's research into procedures a practitioner can run.
